As our children move away and need their own chiropractor, I have searched plenty for chiropractors across the country. We live in a very mobile culture, so I have searched for our patients to help them find their new chiropractors too, always promising that I will always recommend someone that I would want my own family to see.
The issue that arises is that we all write just about the very same thing in these paragraphs in an attempt to sway your opinion that we have something special. It’s just that nothing ever really stands out as being so incredibly different in this little section of some random chiropractor’s website.
Honestly, we work diligently to create a relationship first. Why? Most everyone that walks through our door is afraid. Far too often, we (chiropractic) are their last-ditch effort to help themselves. Sometimes, they are afraid because they have never been to a chiropractor but have been told horror stories or told by someone that they shouldn’t go for some reason or another. But nothing else has worked. Sometimes they are just confused because everyone ’swears by’ their chiropractor, but they just don’t think a chiropractor can help with their specific situation because it is not a ‘bone’ problem or they don't think they feel ‘bad.’ Maybe they feel they can ‘adjust’ themselves, or that massage works for them, or PT works for them. Those are all synergistic but not the same.
We smile here, we sometimes hug you, we aren’t afraid to pat you on your arm and will always look you in the eye and actually hear you. Healthcare is not sick care. Sick care is covering up a symptom. Healthcare is looking at a whole person and evaluating what is going right and what could be doing better. We must look at not just the physical stresses and traumas but also the chemical (what you eat, drink, breathe in and absorb in through your skin) and include the emotional stresses. Studies show that 76% of low-back pain in men is NOT mechanical in nature but emotional.
There is a sweet spot between what we do, who we are, and what we want/need. And there is a sweet spot between symptom care and health care. That is what we do. We find the sweet spot and then exploit it.
